Key Themes of the Dubai Forum 2024

Themed “40 Years Together for Future Development,” the Dubai Forum 2024 emphasized three critical areas for emerging cooperation. These areas included new energy, new generation technologies, and new media. Participants discussed how collaboration in these sectors can enhance both nations’ economic and cultural ties.

Chinese Ambassador to the UAE, Zhang Yiming, delivered an inspiring opening speech. He highlighted that China is the UAE’s largest trading partner and that the UAE serves as China’s top non-oil trading partner. This mutually beneficial relationship underscores the importance of continuous improvement and innovation in bilateral cooperation.

Long-Term Friendship and Cooperation

Wu Hailong, president of the China Public Diplomacy Association, praised the long-standing friendship between China and the UAE. He emphasized how both countries support each other’s development while respecting sovereignty and security. The ambassador encouraged participants to leverage current opportunities for cooperation, particularly in the fields of energy, youth engagement, and media.

Mohammad Ali Rashed Lootah, president and CEO of Dubai Chambers, echoed this sentiment. He stated that the UAE is the preferred investment destination for China in the Arab region. The Dubai Chamber is committed to enhancing cooperation under the Belt and Road Initiative, focusing on various sectors such as trade, logistics, and high technology.

Future Directions for Cooperation

As the forum concluded, Chinese Consul General in Dubai, Ou Boqian, emphasized the importance of shaping narratives about both countries. She explained that a true representation of China and the UAE can enhance mutual understanding. New media plays a crucial role in communicating the strengths and aspirations of both nations to a global audience.
