His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of The Executive Council of Dubai, has launched Dubai’s Digital Strategy, propelling the city into an unprecedented era of digital transformation. This strategic move aligns with the visionary leadership’s ambition to establish Dubai as a global benchmark in the digital sector.

Dubai’s Digital Journey: From E-Government to Paperless Transactions

Sheikh Hamdan emphasized Dubai’s previous digital milestones, including the e-government launch in 2001 and the smart government initiative in 2013. These milestones culminated in a government-wide digital transformation, eliminating paper transactions entirely by the end of 2021. These achievements paved the way for Dubai’s new Digital Strategy, cementing the city’s position as the world’s digital capital.

The Pillars of Dubai’s Digital Strategy

Dubai’s Digital Strategy is founded on a vision to digitize all aspects of life, fostering a reliable and robust digital ecosystem that enhances the digital economy and empowers a digitally-driven society. The strategy revolves around seven key pillars: the digital city, digital economy, data and statistics, digital talent, digital infrastructure, cybersecurity, and digital competitiveness. Ambitious Goals: Amplifying the Digital Economy and Enhancing Digital Wellbeing

Dubai’s Digital Strategy sets ambitious goals for the city’s digital future. It aims to amplify the outputs of the digital economy and increase the positive impact of Digital Wellbeing by 90%. Additionally, Dubai seeks to attain top rankings in the United Nations’ Local Online Service Index and introduce 50 high-impact, seamless, interconnected, proactive, and predictable digital city experiences. The strategy also aims to equip over 50,000 professionals with advanced digital qualifications, ensuring a skilled workforce for the digital era.

Achievements in Dubai’s Digital Transformation

Dubai has achieved significant milestones in its digital transformation. Government services in the city have reached a digitization rate of 99.5%, with digital transactions accounting for 87% of total government service transactions. Moreover, over 120 government smartphone applications have been developed to provide convenient access to services. Government entities have also demonstrated over 80% compliance with cybersecurity indicators and 100% compliance with the Dubai Data Law, ensuring data security and privacy.

Dubai.ae, the new version of Dubai’s official website, serves as a unified and reliable digital platform, providing access to information and services across various sectors. Other initiatives include the Dubai Transactions Index, the Digital Assistant initiative, the Dubai Leadership Dashboard, the Maha Project, and the Happiness Meter and Environmental Quality IOTs.
