Dubai’s population has achieved a significant milestone by surpassing 3.6 million residents for the first time, as the latest data from the Dubai Statistics Centre reports. The population now stands at 3,600,175, reflecting a one percent increase of 33,000 people by the end of the first quarter of this year. This growth represents a 1.5 percent increase of more than 50,000 residents compared to the end of 2022.

The continuous growth in Dubai’s population can be attributed to several factors that contribute to the city’s appeal. One key factor is its world-class infrastructure, providing residents with excellent connectivity, modern amenities, and a comfortable lifestyle. Additionally, Dubai offers a stable legislative and legal environment, ensuring a secure and welcoming atmosphere for residents and businesses. Furthermore, the city’s thriving economy serves as a magnet, attracting tens of thousands of individuals who seek job opportunities or wish to make investments in various sectors.

Notably, despite the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic since early 2020, Dubai’s population has witnessed a remarkable growth rate of 6.3 percent, representing an increase of approximately 215,000 people. This growth further demonstrates Dubai’s resilience and its ability to adapt to changing circumstances while maintaining its appeal.

Looking toward the future, Dubai’s urban plan estimates that by 2040, the population could reach 5.8 million, with peak hours seeing a surge to 7.8 million individuals. This projection indicates the city’s commitment to sustainable development and its readiness to accommodate the needs of a growing population. Examining the demographics, Dubai’s population is predominantly male, constituting 69 percent of the total population at approximately 2.438 million. Females make up the remaining 31 percent, representing over 1.111 million residents. Emiratis account for eight percent of the population, while expatriates comprise 92 percent, highlighting the city’s multicultural environment.

During peak hours, typically between 6.30 am and 8.30 pm, Dubai’s population swells to 4.729 million, including regular residents, employees, and temporary inhabitants. This fluctuation underscores the city’s vibrant nature and bustling activity throughout the day.

The demographic profile of Dubai reveals that it predominantly comprises young individuals, with the age group of 30 to 34 being the largest, accounting for 636,000 individuals. Additionally, the population over 75 years of age stands at 11,559, nearly equally divided between males and females. The age group between 70 to 74 years comprises 9,216 individuals, while the 65 to 69 years bracket consists of just over 20,000 individuals.

As Dubai’s population continues to grow steadily, the city remains committed to providing a high standard of living, fostering economic opportunities, and offering a vibrant and inclusive environment for residents and businesses alike.
