On June 11, 2023, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, will host the highly anticipated 10th edition of the Arab-China Business Conference, along with the 8th Investment Symposium. This prestigious event, hosted by the Saudi Ministry of Investment and Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Riyadh, aims to foster stronger trade relations between China and the Arab world. This year’s conference is expected to attract over 2,000 individuals, making it the largest of its kind.

Under the theme “Collaborating for Prosperity,” the Arab-China Business Conference and Investment Symposium will serve as a platform for high-level government officials and industry leaders from two dozen countries to explore lucrative investment opportunities across various economic sectors. A press release highlighted the significance of this gathering in strengthening bilateral ties and leveraging the complementary nature of the Arab and Chinese economies, especially in sectors critical to the global economy.

Trade and cultural ties between Arab countries and the People’s Republic of China extend over 2,000 years, but have deepened significantly given the complementary nature of our economies in sectors critical to the global economy.

Khalid Al Falih, the Minister of Investment of Saudi Arabia

Al Falih emphasized that the Arab-China Business Conference will facilitate meaningful discussions between public and private sector participants to shape the future of these collaborations.

The General Secretariat of the League of Arab States, the Chinese Council for the Promotion of International Trade, and the Union of Arab Chambers of Commerce are organizing this prestigious forum in partnership. With a focus on various sectors fundamental to the Arab-China trade and investment relationship, including construction, logistics, financing, manufacturing, mining, minerals, and petrochemicals, the conference will provide a comprehensive overview of potential opportunities.

Additionally, the event will shed light on emerging areas of shared interest such as tourism, entrepreneurship, and e-sports. The organizers will place a particular emphasis on The Kingdom’s recently launched Special Economic Zones (SEZs), which aim to attract foreign direct investment (FDI) in both nascent and mature industries.

The growing economic ties between China and the Arab countries are evident from the trade figures. In 2022, the trade exchange between these regions reached an impressive SAR 1.60 trillion, equivalent to $430 billion, marking a significant 31% growth compared to the previous year. Among the Arab countries, Saudi Arabia stands out as China’s leading trade partner, contributing nearly 25% to the total volume of trade. Trade between Saudi Arabia and China alone amounted to approximately SAR 400 billion, equivalent to $106 billion, showcasing a remarkable 30% annual increase.

As the 10th edition of the Arab-China Business Conference approaches, anticipation is high for the fruitful discussions, networking opportunities, and investment agreements that will shape the future of Arab-Chinese economic cooperation. The event’s focus on diverse sectors and emerging areas of interest demonstrates the commitment of both regions to collaborate for prosperity and mutual growth.
