The Federal Agency for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Port Security (ICP) in the UAE has implemented a groundbreaking policy, enabling tourists to extend their residency visas within the country. This initiative aims to enhance the overall experience of tourists by granting them the opportunity to prolong their stay without the need to leave the UAE. In this article, we delve into the specifics of the new visa extension policy and shed light on its benefits for tourists.

UAE: Streamlined Visa Extension Process and Requirements

According to the ICP, tourists must enter the UAE within 60 days from the date of visa issuance. The residency visa is valid for either 30 or 60 days, depending on the visa type obtained. To avoid incurring a fine of Dhs100 per day, tourists must either leave the country or renew their entry permit before it expires. It is important to note that the maximum extension period for a residency visa is 120 days. Additionally, the ICP has introduced a convenient avenue for tourists to apply for a 30-day visa extension through their smart channels. However, it should be noted that extension requests will not be considered if the validity of the stay exceeds 6 months.

Benefits and Recommendations for Tourists

The recent visa reforms offer numerous advantages for tourists visiting the UAE. By extending their residency visas, tourists can enjoy an extended stay and fully immerse themselves in the diverse attractions and experiences the country has to offer. To ensure a seamless visa process, UAE authorities strongly advise tourists to apply for visas through approved travel agencies and hotels, reducing the risk of falling victim to fraudulent schemes. Approved agencies in respective countries can collaborate with local tour operators to update travel packages and provide accurate information on visa extensions and associated costs.

Visa Fee and Smart App

To streamline the visa extension process, the ICP has launched the user-friendly UAEICP Smart App, which offers a wide range of services. Through this intuitive application, tourists can apply for a residency visa by logging in with their UAE Passport digital identity. The app simplifies the process, allowing users to select “Start a new service” followed by “New visa.” Depending on the desired length of stay (30 days or 60 days), a list of multiple trip visa options will be displayed. It is crucial for tourists to be aware of the applicable fees, including visa extension fees, value-added tax (VAT), knowledge fees, innovation fees, and national taxes.

Conclusion:

The UAE’s progressive policy allowing tourists to extend their visit visas from within the country represents a significant leap forward in facilitating longer stays and enriching the overall tourism experience. This initiative aims to attract more tourists from around the world and further bolster the UAE’s thriving tourism sector. With its world-class attractions and unparalleled hospitality, the UAE remains a highly sought-after destination for families and solo travelers alike.
